July 27th NW PA Fishing Report

Summer heat in NW PA lowers interest in fishing among some anglers. But others know the peak of summer usually means great fishing on certain area waters, including Lake Erie, Allegheny River and some of our small-but-deep natural lakes in the region. By reading each issue of the NW PA Fishing Report, you will get inside information on the best bites on specific waters in the four counties which comprise the PA Great Lakes Region tourism group.

July 13th NW PA Fishing Report

Summer heat is at its peak in the PA Great Lakes Region and anglers are enjoying variety in their fishing. The Lake Erie perch and walleye bite is sporadic. However, on inland lakes and rivers, smallmouth bass and largemouth bass are chewing. Crappies and bluegills are moving into summer offshore locations. Catfish are biting. Hoping for some measurable rain soon, otherwise rivers and streams will be too low and too clear.

June 29th NW PA Fishing Report

Summer has arrived in NW PA with most species of fish now in early summer locations. The Lake Erie bite perch bite seems a bit off but inland waters are producing crappies, bluegills, bass, walleyes and catfish as expected. Before setting off on your July 4th Holiday fishing trip, be sure to read the NW PA Fishing Report to know where the hot bites are.

June 15th NW PA Fishing Report

The late spring/early summer Crappie, Bluegill and Walleye bites continue strong on inland lakes in the PA Great Lakes Region. Wind has played havoc with angler attempts to fish Lake Erie lately, but hopefully with the arrival of summer weather patterns the lake will lay down so perch, walleye and smallmouth anglers can get out.
