2018 Fishing Reports

March 28th NW PA Fishing Report

The calendar says spring but the weather says winter. Here in NW PA, we have experienced a re-freeze and a second ice-out this month, but there is no sustainable warming in the forecast. However, anglers are working hard to catch some fish, including yellow perch in Presque Isle Bay, steelheads in Erie Tributaries, smallmouth bass in the Allegheny, and maybe, just maybe, enough sun to trigger crappies, bass and other fish in the shallows of area lakes.

February 16th NW PA Fishing Report

Safe Ice: it came late to NW PA and looks like it’s leaving early. But WOW, did hardwater anglers have fun while it lasted. Check out the big toothy critters! Remember, these fish are in our lakes during the summer, too! As ice season slowly melts away, anglers are gearing up for open water. Bring it on!

January 18th NW PA Fishing Report

Repeated cycles of deep freeze followed by a thaw are playing heck with winter fishing opportunities in NW PA. The ice on several lakes is questionable for fishing while at the same time the Allegheny River, French Creek and Erie steelhead streams are blown out. But some diehard anglers are still out there. Check out the Report to see what they are catching and where.
