I didn’t hear much about crappies. But right now there is skim ice in harbors and quiet wa-
ter areas. Come on Spring! By the way, we are having a special sale on our fly tying materi-

           al – get a coupon for 30%.

Ken @Presque Isle Angler; filed 3-13-17: Over a week ago they were doing pretty good on
the perch off the docks. But not much happening right now. There is skim ice in the mari-
           nas.

Thomas Watral (Erie); filed 3-9-17: Large perch and some crappies are being caught at the
Head of Bay with minnows on bobbers set at 5 feet. Most places in the Bay are getting nice
perch in the 13 inch range on minnows on Subiki Rigs and 1 oz. sinker. I have moved my
bait shot to 1611 Linwood Ave, Erie. I will be having a grand opening sale soon. We will be
offering women’s fishing vests made to order.

Richard Hellmann @ Someday Isle Tackle; filed 2-19-17: At the Head
of Bay with water temp 35 degrees and west wind, fishing in 6 to 7

feet of water with bobber set at 4 feet. Two anglers from Someday Isle
Tackle brought home a combined catch of 18 crappies. They were us-
ing Someday Isle Tackle Shimmerlings (a bobber jig) baited with
grubs. Hot color was chartreuse and black. (See photo).

Jeff @ Poor Richards; filed 3-13-17: They have been doing okay on

steelhead over the weekend – catching jacks low in the creek closer to the lake and some
hold-overs higher in the streams. Water was clear but not too low. Minnow and eggs were
producing. But with the severe cold, the creeks are slushing up. Fishing will be difficult un-
til we get a warm up. While the March fishing may not be as good as normal, our January
and February were far better than average simply because the creeks were open. Best win-
           ter in years.

Becky @ Elk Creek; filed 3-13-17: Fishing is pretty rough right now with the cold. Lines and

leaders are freezing. Not even anti-freezing treatment like Chapstick on the line is working.

                                 Rebecca @ Uncle John’s Campground; 3-10-17: We
are back from Florida and open. During last couple
weeks our anglers have been catching some very
nice steelheads in lower Elk. See our photos.
