NW PA FISHING REPORT for June 15, 2016
This Report is brought to you by PA Great Lakes Region tourism with addi-
tional sponsorship from Wiegel Brothers Marine and Gamma Fishing.
We answer the question “What’s biting in the lakes, streams and rivers of Crawford,
Erie, Mercer and Venango counties?”
CRAWFORD COUNTY
Pymatuning Lake
Dave @ Richter’s Tackle Shop; 6-13: “The wind has been kill-
ing the fishing lately. When anglers get out, some are re-
porting nice walleyes by trolling shad plugs or drifting with jig-
n-crawler. They are catching crappies 9 feet and deeper. Lots
of bass have been reported the past few days. Catfish are eve- Richter’s Nite Bite Walleyes
rywhere. The walleye night bite is slowing down – just too
many alewife in this lake. My Father’s Day tip is to drift fish with jig-n-crawler for wall-
eyes!”
Norm @ Jamestown Marina; 6-13: “I can report that we have had a lot of wind of late.
It kept most anglers off the lake over the weekend. We had to stop renting boats on
Sunday when waves got to 4 feet. Anglers were still catching crappies before the week-
end and getting some walleyes…but it is tough bite given
the conditions. If the weather is okay, my advice for Fa-
ther’s Day is for the family to come on up, rent a pon-
toon from us, drift jig-n-crawler while you lay back to
enjoy the day and picnic lunch…consider catching fish as
Bill Cusick’s big walleye a bonus to time with the family.”
Hooker @ Hill’s Country Store; filed 6-13: “There were two tournaments on the lake
over the weekend. Catches were sporadic due to high winds. The winner of the walleye
tournament caught his fish on a crawler and harness with gold blade in 10 feet of wa-
ter. Crappies are biting in 10 to 12 feet of water near the stump field up north. Average
size bass are eating creature baits pitched to shallow wood, but the bigger bass are
deeper. For Father’s Day Special, I’ll be giving a free pack of Bobby Garland Baits for
every purchase of a Gator Burger or Ribeye Cheese Steak sandwich from Hill’s Country
Store – actually, I will run that special the rest of the month of June!”
