Fishing with Lefebre - Tips from Bassmaster Elite Angler Dave Lefebre
By Darl Black
In late November when I was preparing an ice fishing article for the January issue of CRAPPIE
NOW, Dave Lefebre invited me to stop by his home to conduct the interview and photograph
some of his newest ice fishing equipment. One item in in particular had him as excited as a
youngster on Christmas morning – the new Marcum Lithium Shuttle.
The shuttle is a “carry-all” for the ice angler who likes to cover territory quickly to find fish.
When Dave hits the lake, he sits up a base camp at a high percentage site with his shelter, un-
derwater cameras, etc. But when all is set, he then takes off on a
mission to see if he can find panfish schools that are moving
about the area.
“The grab-and-go MarCum Lithium Shuttle carries everything I
need: a sonar unit and battery, three or four rods, a utility case of
tackle and other amenities. The heart of the Shuttle is the 40-
hour lithium battery – enough power that I don’t have to worry
about charging it for about three days. Lithium batteries rock!”
says Dave.
“The battery on the shuttle powers the sonar and two UBS ports
so I can charge my cell phone or tablet. Plus it has a bright light
built in so I don’t have to carry a lantern or a pocket flash to
charge my fluorescent baits. Furthermore there are three spots Lefebre ready to run-n-gun with
to screw in a flexible arm grip to hold a Go-Pro or Ion Camera stocked Shuttle and manual auger.
when shooting video.”
The Shuttle has optional adapters in order to accept any brand ice-fishing sonar unit. Dave
chooses his flasher unit when running-and-gunning on the ice, using
a hand-held GPS to locate sites he marked during open water sea-
son.
