Possible Record Fish Taken on Gamma Line

On November 6, 2017, outdoor writer Jim Gronaw caught and released

what most likely was a new world-record fallfish from a small tributary to
the Monocacy River in central Maryland. The 22-inch fish struck a 1/16th

ounce "Triple S" hair jig that was tipped with a Bobby Garland Slab Slay'R
and was successfully landed on Gamma 4-pound test PolyFlex clear line.

The current all-tackle world record for fallfish, as listed by the IGFA, is a 19
-inch fish that weighed 3 pounds, 9 ounces and was caught in the Susque-

hanna River (New York) in 2009. Although the fallfish was not weighed,
Gronaw feels quite certain that the overgrown minnow exceeded the 4-
