October 15 issue of NW PA Fishing Report
It feels like fall in Northwest PA, and the fish know it. So far in October, it has been an absolute awesome smallmouth bite on the Allegheny River, French Creek, Shenango Lake/Shenango River and other inland lakes. Up Lake Erie way, steelhead are staged at creek mouths and slightly upstream waiting on a good rainfall to put suitable water in the streams so they can move on up. An unusual high number of pink salmon are showing up along PA’s North Coast – source uncertain. Look for a lot more action in Erie tributaries when rain arrives, and more action on inland lakes/rivers as water temperature drops through the end of October.
