October 14 NW PA Fishing Report
The anticipated fall bite in NW PA took a nose-dive on many inland waters as the calendar turned a page to October. Lakes, streams and rivers were too low; sudden drop in water temperature due to early severe cold snap; full moon; overharvest – pick your excuse or create a new one. It’s been tough fishing for gamefish in recent weeks. Hopefully fish are adjusting and putting the feedbag back on. Even steelhead had been stuck in the lower section of tributaries due to low water. However, that changed Wednesday night when massive storm rolled through and overfilled the creeks with muddy water and debris. When water level subsides, it will be game on for steelhead as they are now on the move.
