February 20, NW PA Fishing Report
It’s the February mix (or mess) in NW PA fishing scene: steelhead here and there, some walleye catches in flowing water, perch and crappies on the ice. With a warmer than normal winter splatted with streaks of extreme cold, ice fishing has been “iffy” all month but hardwater fanatics find places to fish. But some anglers are hoping a very warm weekend coming up will wipe out the ice so they can boats ready – they remember that’s what the Groundhog said. But I think loss of ice on lakes is premature, although creeks and rivers will likely open. Feels like the countdown to the First Day of Spring is picking up speed.
