Fishing With Darl Black Gide Service...Summer Schedule
I am just finishing up some dates for crappies at Pymatun-
ing. The crappie bite at Pymie is on deeper cover right now.
While the average fish size is very nice (10 to 14 inches),
the crappies are scattered anywhere from the deep weed
edges to cribs in 14 feet. As we move later into summer,
crappies will roam even more, so I move next door to Con-
neaut Lake. If someone really wants to fish crappies at Py-
mie, we can do it—but the fishing is more exciting at Con-
neaut. Most recent trip to Pymie
Plan to shift focus to Conneaut Lake later in July, where we
will target big bluegills/pumpkinseeds and crappies. We
checked the lake this past week. The crappies we caught
were all 11 to 13 inches. But the big bluegills have not yet
set up in summer patterns. Lake traffic should clam down
and the water clarity clear up some over next two weeks.
Conneaut is the best bluegill lake in this area but many an-
Checking on Conneaut Lake—crappies Good! glers are concerned about the boat traffic. We only fish
Conneaut from Monday through Friday—not on week-
ends. To interest more anglers in trips to Conneaut during the week, I am running a special dis-
count for panfish trips this summer. Make it a father/son trip; I have special tackle for the
youngsters. Send an email or call for details. We will be fishing panfish at Conneaut through
September; after Labor Day, I will run weekend trips.
Also offering bass trips to Conneaut Lake and Wilhelm. Again, email for call or details.
