MERCER COUNTY
Lake Wilhelm
Scott Selle; filed 7/8: Here are pics of a largemouth bass and crappie I
caught at Lake Wilhelm this past week. Bass came on a 4-inh purple Senko
and crappie came on a Cabela’s Swim Minnow in lemon color. (See photos)
th
Marilyn Black (Cochranton); filed 7/9: The weekend before the 4 , Darl and
I made a quick trip to Lake Wilhelm one evening checking on the bass bite.
No bass but I got a strange-looking catfish – a discolored Channel Cat with
injury to its mouth area.

Shenango Lake
Scott Selle; filed 7/9: Here a couple pics of my son Rob with bass caught at Shenango Reservoir
on the 412 Custom Baits you sent us. The craw was dipped in Spike-It. (see photo below)
Rick Como (Sharpsville); filed 7/8: The fishing on Shenango Lake has remained pretty good in
spite of the hot, wet weather the past couple weeks. Hybrid stripers and white bass can still be
caught regularly during the early morning and late evening periods. Lots of topwater action in
early morning along deep shoreline edges. Fish are pushing shad to the bank. Cast shad-
imitating crankbaits and the fun begins! Crappie fishing is still good. The fish are just off the
deep lake points and are schooled up in good numbers. Channel cats are hitting any time of the
day. Walleye fishing is very slow. (See photo below and Livewell)
Randy @ Fish West PA; filed 7/7: Summer is here and recreational watercrafts are abundant
during most warm days. Mornings, evenings and after dark have become the best bets for fish-
ing. Fish are active on the right days especially before fronts. June produced some nice hybrids
for us as usual and anglers are catching walleye, crappies, bass and catfish. Most of the fish are
deep now, but if you find them it’s on! Tight lines to all! (See photo below and Livewell)
