FRENCH CREEK – Flowing through all four counties

Tabitha @ Myers Sportsman’s Connection; filed 7/9: Due to heavy
rains, French Creek has been high and muddy. But we expect excel-
lent smallmouth bass fishing will resume on the creek when the wa-
        ter recedes.

        CRAWFORD COUNTY

        Pymatuning Lake
Norm @Jamestown Marina; filed 7/9: Anglers are still catching fish but the bite isn’t as strong
as it was before that week of exceptionally hot weather. Night fishing for walleye seems to be
the hottest bite going. Fishermen are catching a lot of small perch. And within the last week or
so, I’ve received reports of smallmouth bass being caught all over the lake.

Dave @ Richter’s Bait; filed 7/9: Although catches have slowed some with the spell of very hot
weather, some anglers are still picking up walleyes. For the most part
walleyes are coming one of two ways – daytime trolling in deep water
with worm harnesses and shad type plugs like the
Flicker Shad, or nighttime casting of long minnow
plugs over weedbeds. Fishin’ Frank got his limit

both Friday and Saturday night casting minnow
plugs. The Bomber Long A is one of the most popular. Some night casters
are picking up a few crappies along the weedbeds while casting the min-
now plugs – a bit unusual. For the most part, crappie catches are coming
on offshore cover on humps and points. I’ve heard of some decent size
smallies being caught. A few small muskies were reported over the week-
end. And of course catfish are everywhere. (See photos)
