                                ing Conneaut on October 10 , I caught a 15 inch
largemouth on a Jitterbug. Then on October 18, I
caught a 30 inch northern pike on blue spinnerbait
from Conneaut Lake. Conneaut is one of my favorite
                                lakes. (See photos)

GPSMAP sonar for crappies schools on Conneaut Lake back on the 14 , I discovered a massive
deepwater school that blacked out my sonar screen. The school was situated on a 27 to 30-foot
slight break. Hoping they were crappies, I dropped my Garland Baby Shad down to the school.
Turned out they were bluegills – perhaps the big-

what happened to all the big crappies at Conneaut
Lake this past season. Plentiful in the early spring,
                                                          but never encountered again.

        ERIE COUNTY

        Lake Erie & Tributary Streams
Mike @ Lake Erie Bait & Tackle; filed 10-23: Not much happening in the Bay. The water tem-
perature has not dropped sufficiently to bring the big push of bait and perch into the Bay. Bay
temp is 7 to 8 degrees above normal. A week ago when we had a chilly 52 degree day, there
were a lot of big perch caught from the East and West Piers. But when it warmed back up, the
perch bite died. Apparently some perch are in the bay but don’t much care for our southern-

like October temps. Steelhead fishing in creeks and lake shore has been very good – given the
fact that streams are low. If we get the promised rain this week, we could be looking at good
time on steelies by Thursday or Friday.

Lynne @ East End Angler; filed 10-23: Steelhead action is very good given the low & clear con-
ditions of streams. East side streams Four, Sixteen and Twenty all have fish.
In Sixteen the fish are up to the water treatment plant and in Twenty steel-
head are up to the Tomato Patch. Shore fishing is up and down based on

wind. In the Bay, anglers are catching a few perch at South Pier, Patrol Dock
and Convention Center dock. Largemouth Bass fishing is decent in Bay and
smallmouth bass fishing is good on the Lake. They are still picking up a few
        walleyes. (See photo)
