Erie Tributary Streams
Jim @ Folly’s End Campground; filed 11-21: After a late start the steelhead have finally ar-
rived in average or better-than-average numbers. The water table has been replenished
from a dry summer. Good flow and color has greeted anglers for the past few weeks. Trout
Beads are in high demand. Conditions can change rapidly. Always call before you travel.
Jeff @ Poor Richards; filed 11-21: Streams conditions are not great, but not terrible either.
Flow seems to be holding. Usual story – some anglers are doing very well, and some an-
glers are not catching any fish. As usual, there are crowded conditions at Manchester Hole,
the Chute and the Falls on Walnut. Fish are spread out throughout Elk from mouth to mid-
section to upper sections. Single eggs and egg patterns have been doing best given the
low, clear water.
Dan @ Elk Creek Sports; filed 11-19: This past Tuesday and Wednes-
day, 15th & 16th, we had a run of big males steelhead move into Elk.
These fish were 8.5 to 9.5 pounds and guys were catching their limit.
No reason for the push, no change in water conditions. This bunch of
males just decided it was time to go upstream. It was wild, unexpected
fishing for two days!
Austin Young on Elk
Rebecca @ Uncle John’s Elk Creek Campground; filed 11-18: We have been very busy
here…so many fish…so many anglers catching fish and so many pictures. It’s fun at Uncle
John’s. Weather had been perfect last week, but snow is coming.

Dennis Beggs (Franklin); filed: 11-18: Hi Darl! Attached are a couple photos from steelhead
fishing this past week. Kim Slye and I fished two days (Tuesday & Thursday). Slye caught
three on Tuesday and I caught four on Thursday. Both days we were fishing the surf in Lake
Erie at Trout Run. Best baits were egg sacs, Powerbait, sucker spawn and skein. It is amaz-
ing how you can fish next to a buddy using similar terminal tackle and bait, but one guy
gets the hits one day and the other guys gets the strikes the next time…all luck. But great
fun! (See photos on Gamma Steelhead Country Page)
