August 7, NW PA Fishing Report
Don’t let the Dog Days of Summer fool you. There is plenty of good fishing opportunities right now in NW Pennsylvania. Yes, the Erie walleye bite continues strong – although the fish are moving about a bit those easy limits are still a daily happening. The Allegheny River and French Creek look in prime shape for summer smallmouth. On inland reservoirs and natural lakes of the region, the talk is about bluegills, catfish, largemouth bass, muskies and Shenango’s hybrid stripers. The hottest crappie bite appears to be Lake Wilhelm and the best perch bite at Pymatuning.
