              CRAWFORD COUNTY
              Pymatuning Lake
Dave @ Richter’s Bait & Tackle; filed 4/8: I can sum up the cur-
rent bite on the North End of the lake in two words: MONSTER
CRAPPIES! I’m seeing numbers of extremely large crappies com-

ing in – bigger than seen in recent years. Not just one or two big Chase with big ones
ones in a catch, but some limits with no crappies under 12 inch-
es. We have seen several over 2 pounds in the past week. This
past weekend was incredible for crappies, perch and walleyes.
Big perch, too. The walleye bite has shifted from just around the
spillway to the shoreline and inlet creeks up and down the lake.
Mostly an evening or night bite on slender minnow plugs and
jigs. Few guys jigging the humps but not a lot of ‘eye on them

yet. It’s the old story – if you know what you are doing, you are
going to catch fish right now while others go home empty hand- Richter’s photo

Laurie @ Duck-N-Drake; filed 4/8: My customers are elated with the size of perch
and crappies they are catching up North. Many have never seen such strong num-
bers of big perch coming. And the crappie catches are amazing. Limits of nice crap-
pies. Most crappies are coming on minnows. Couple customers told me the trick was
to keep the minnow moving slowly; don’t let it hang there. This was especially true

on Saturday when there was no wind. Don’t forget we are hosting a daytime catfish
                                        th
tournament on April 13 from 7 am to 4 pm in cooperation with Robinson’s Bait.
