Russ @ Gateway Bait; filed 4/8: North End Bays are hot for crappies and perch right now.
Crappie fishing should get better as temps go up a bit. Walleyes are biting too. I’ve got a
limit each time I’ve been out in the boat. Some guys are catching walleyes in evening by
walking the Causeway with a Rapala.
Tabitha @ Myers Sportsman’s Connection; filed 4/8: With most of our customers heading
to Pymatuning Lake or Conneaut Lake for panfish, we decided to give it try this past week-
end. Tabitha caught a big 15-inch crappie taken on a Log Hopper Minnows jig manufactured
locally in Saegertown and sold in our store. (See photo)
David Graham (Tionesta); filed 4/6: Alice Lingo and I had a pleasant fish-catching day on
Pymatuning’s North End. We landed 30 to 35 crappies and perch. The crappies average 11
inches but three of them were over 13 inches. The perch we kept were 10 to 11 inches.
Small crappie jig tipped with a minnow did the trick, along with 6-pound test line on a Dia-
wa reel and an FX Extreme Angler Series Rod. Water temp was 45 to 50 degrees. Caught the
fish in old pad stems in 2 to 3 feet of water. (See photos)
