Woodcock Lake and Woodcock Creek
Tabitha @ Myers Sportsman’s Connection; filed 4/8: Saturday was
mentored trout day and with the good weather many young people
had good luck. Here is Emma with her catch in Woodcock Creek. With
the excessive rain a week ago, Woodcock Lake was very high and they
were letting water out. But the water level has dropped to normal lev-
el and the stream above and below the Lake should be near perfect
for this coming Saturday’s trout opener.

Jerry @ Timberland Bait; filed 4/8: A recent leak in the dam on Canadohta has resulted in
the lake being lowered to winter level. Uncertain of where they go from here with repair.
Problem in launching boats, particularly pontoon boats. Panfish anglers are not finding
crappies, perch or bluegills to be in a positive biting mood.
ERIE COUNTY
Presque Isle Bay and Tributaries
Mike @ Lake Erie Bait and Tackle: This has been an outstanding
weekend for perch in the Bay. Decent numbers and good size. Shore
anglers having success at East & West Piers, North and South Piers,
Dobson Landing and Don Johns. We have emeralds and other bait for
perch and next weekend’s trout opener.
Lynne @ East End Angler; filed 4/8: Fishing in the Bay has been decent, both from shore
rd
and in boats. Good perch bite off 3 parking lot on peninsula. Also catching them off the
Piers, especially off South pier at night. Still catching steelhead in 16 Mile and 20 Mile
Creek.
Phil @ Poor Richards; filed 4/8: West side creeks are low and clear. Not many guys catch-
ing steelhead.
Dan @ Elk Creek Sports; filed 4/8: Guess what? Smallies are
moving into Elk Creek already. Much earlier than usual. Unsure
why but likely due to lake warming earlier than usual. Typically,
there is still pack ice out on the lake in eastern basin through
April but the Lake is ice free right now. Sucker run was early this
year too. Guys that can fish low, clear water are still catching
steelhead. Seeing a few brown trout as well. (see photo)
