FRENCH CREEK – Flowing through all four counties
Editor’s note: French Creek remains high and very muddy – basically unfishable at the
time of this Report. Unfortunately, this outstanding waterway has been too high and
too dirty much of the spring. Looking forward to reports from this stream when the
monsoon season is over…
News from the French Creek Valley Conservancy; filed 6/19: NEW RAMP - A new French
Creek boat launch was recently installed on Wadsworth Avenue in Fifth Ward in Mead-
ville. The Joe Cat Launch, named for Joe Catalano, is the result of a multi-year effort by
the Catalano family to raise funds to honor the family patriarch. Joe was a lover of
French Creek so the launch is a fitting memorial. The launch is on the Smock Riverwalk
property. French Creek is an official Pennsylvania Water Trail. The launch is intended to
be a walk-in launch; vehicles are not permitted to drive on the property. A gravel pull-
off has been created for loading and unloading
, and parking is available at Wadsworth Avenue Church and the Lincoln Ave ballfield.
FRENCH CREEK CLEANUP: This year’s French Creek Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday,
th
September 7 . For more information email watershed@frenchcreekconservancy.org.
