CRAWFORD COUNTY
Pymatuning Lake
Norm @ Jamestown Marina; filed 6/24: My customers were doing
decent this past week on walleyes. They reported most walleyes
came from trolling Hot-N-Tots and worm harnesses in 18 to 20 feet
of water. But when the lake went flat over the weekend, the bite
died. Still hearing a lot about musky activity, including muskies grab- Richter Bait photo
bing panfish at the side of the boat as are you about to lift a crappie
or perch aboard. Crappie fishing has been very spotty on the South
End this year; the bite never got good. Plenty of perch and catfish. I
th
still have some boats available for the 4 of July week. If you are
planning on coming up and expect to rent a boat, you had better call
and reserve one NOW!
Dave @ Richter’s Bait & Tackle; filed 6/24: Not as many fishermen
catching walleye by drifting during the day as I would expect for this
time of year. But several guys working the night shift on the lake with

Bomber Long As and similar baits are still catching fish, and these are
nice fish. Some nights they are out until sunrise to get a limit; night
fishing appears to be the only way to get a limit – if you don’t mind
losing sleep. I continue to hear complaints about lack of weeds in the
lake; however, I am also hearing from a few anglers they are finding
some deep weeds – and when they do, they are catching walleyes
during the day. If you want catfish, we’ve got a lot of them out there.
Shon @ Espyville Marina; filed 6/24: I’m not hearing about many
walleye catches around the causeway – which is odd for this time of
year. But there are still reliable reports coming in about both wall-

eyes and crappies in the North Stumps. Crappies in the stumps at
end of June isn’t unusual, but big walleyes in the stumps now is unu-
sual. For the most part, these are very nice fish in the 20 to 22-inch
range. Perch are everywhere.
Sara @ Linesville Marina; filed 6/24: Anglers passing through our
shop are showing off nice catches of walleyes. Many of these fish are
coming from the Stumps near Harris Island. Fishermen have been

working for their walleyes but time invested usually has positive re-
sults. The most popular bait is crawler on a Weapon weighted spinner – sort of like an
Erie Dearie. We have the Weapon walleye lure in the shop right now; if coming up for
th
the 4 , be sure to pick up a couple.
