Richard @ Someday Isle Tackle; filed 6/24: With the upcoming re-
lease of our new lures, we haven’t had much fishing time. Popping in
at the piers, we have found that casting a ½-ounce Water Puppet
with half a crawler is still producing a lot of action. Good numbers of
walleyes are moving in the right direction for East Side Anglers; wall-
eyes are beginning to stack up off the Point. Have fun out there! (See

RJ Graham (Tionesta); filed 6/24: My partner and I finished 5 in
the KBBC Lake Erie Tournament on Saturday. We fished the main
lake, using dropshot and Ned Rigs. Our four bass limit went 17.44
pounds with a 5.2-pound kicker.
John Wilpula (Conneaut Lake); filed 6/20: On our Erie trip on the
th
20 , I could not catch a smallmouth bass to save my life. On the
other hand, Alex took me to school. Same bait, same presenta-
RJ’s tournament catch tion, but…every time we would come up to new spot, Alex would
catch two bass and I would get nothing but drum. We were
getting bites between 18 and 30 feet of water on plastic. I’m not
an expert but it seems the bass were in a post-spawn funk. We
could not find a school of bass. Alex would catch a couple small-
mouth on the first few casts at each spot – then nothing. So, we
would move on. A far as walleye, nothing earth shattering to re-
port. We were getting them in front of Shades Beach in 45 feet of
water just like everyone else. They still like worm harnesses! (See

Jeramie Joy (Guys Mills); filed 6/20: Well, I ended up getting
my wife Jessica to finally come out fishing with me on the
th
18 . We started fishing at 40 foot straight out of Walnut
Creek. The fish were stacked from 25 down all the way to
the bottom.! Didn’t seem to matter what we put on, as long
as it was in the 25 to 35-foot zone, the walleyes would eat
it! My wife caught a 30-incher; I told her I was a good guide!
Ha! Most fish came on purple spoons behind Dipseys. Best
Joy’s Day on the Lake
of luck to all who get out.
