Laurie @ Duck-N-Drake; filed 9-10: Not much to report; although I have heard about some
bass action, and of course, catfish. One customer has been catching cats regularly from the
causeway with nightcrawlers.
Becky @ Gateway Tackle; filed 9-10: Few anglers out. Only reports about catfish and small
perch.
Patty @ Poff’s Place: filed 9-10: Seems some of my customers are doing a little better than a
couple weeks back. They are getting some panfish and an occasional walleye. The wind has
kept a lot of people off the lake for over a week, but it’s bound to change.
Darl @ Fishing with Darl Black Guide Service; filed 9-10: Having spent sum-
mer on Conneaut Lake, this was only my second time out on Pymatuning
looking for crappies since early July. On the mid-summer trip to Pymie, I could
not catch a single keeper crappie. When we started out about noon today, at
first I didn’t think we were going to get a keeper either. Lots of small crappies,
including perhaps the smallest one I’ve ever caught on a jig – barely 3 inches.
But kept checking shallow and deep brush piles, and finally figured out what it
took to catch keepers. It was a slow but consistent bite in late afternoon. I ex-
pect the bite activity for larger crappies to become more aggressive as the water continues to
th
cool. I will be offering fall crappie trips on Pymatuning from September 17 through the end of
October. I will not be guiding for crappies into November. Call 814-720-1407.
RJ Graham (Tionesta); filed 9-10: Last weekend John Ringle
and I ventured to Pymie to try the late summer/early fall
flipping bite. We struggled up North in the Stumps, weeds
and pads – no bass! So we made a move to the West Bank
working from Red Cross south and had a hay day! We both
landed over 20 bass, including some very nice ones! (See

- 8-23: I fished Pymie on the 23rd and had a pretty good day on panfish. Got them hang
gliding in 13 feet over brush. Few good size on the crappies, too.
- 9-4: I spent my Labor Day on Pymie with a couple friends. Fished the
South End in 8 to 17 feet of water – over or near brush. The
wind was howling up the lake at around 20 mph. We found
an area out of the wind with brushpiles. Between the three
of us, we managed to put 10 keepers in the box. With strong
wind, we called it a day after four hours. Used jigs and Nib-
bler to get those fish. (See photos)
