Conneaut Lake
Darl @ Fishing with Darl Black; filed 8-31: Winding down on
my Conneaut Lake trips as we get into Sep-
tember. July and August were absolutely
great for big bluegill and pumpkinseed fish-
ing at Conneaut Lake! Anyone who wants to
catch big ‘gills and ‘seeds really needs to con-
tact me for a guide trip for next summer. The

finale to the sunfish season was a visit by
Dave Lefebre and his crew to film a segment
of Erie Extreme during the last week of August. Dave, an experienced panfish angler himself,
was giddy over the average size of the ‘seeds and ‘gills, and was even more surprised by the size
of baits that I had been using. Watch for this particular Erie Extreme show during the 2018 sea-
        son on Channel 12 Erie.

        Canadohta Lake
Jerry @ Timberland Bait; filed 9-10: It was a very slow weekend for the shop over Labor Day
with area parades and activities. Nothing to report from this past weekend either. Starting now,
I will only have the shop open by appointment for someone who wants bait. I’ve got lumber to
cut and firewood quotas to fill while the weather is nice. We will gear up for ice season and
hope for ice. Call me if you need bait – 814-882-8369.

        ERIE COUNTY

Lake Erie, Presque Isle Bay, Tribs
Jeff @ Poor Richards; filed 9-10: There are a few steelheads moving up Walnut to the Falls. A
little more rain into the creeks will get more fish moving; catches mainly at the mouths. Wall-
eye and perch bite still going strong – when anglers can get out. Eyes are at depths of upper 60s

to upper 70s; perch have moved out to 61 to 63 feet.

Dan @ Elk Creek Sports; filed 9-10: There are a few steelheads in Walnut, Elk and Crooked but
streams are nowhere near “loaded” as some anglers like to see. These fish are 23 to 24 inches,
weighing 3 to 4 pounds. Getting out on lake to perch and walleye has been a problem. Last re-
port had perch 55 to 60 feet – lots of good size ones.

Someday Isle Tackle; filed 9-10: Free time and fishable weather just didn’t come together this

weekend. It happens often when running small boats out to the walleye grounds on Lake Erie.
Never risk it! No matter how bad you really need to get out!
