         CRAWFORD COUNTY

         Pymatuning Lake
Norm @ Jamestown Marina; filed 8-7: This past week I’ve been seeing a number of walleye
come though the livery. For this time in August, it’s been pretty good walleye bite. One group
of three guys came in with three limits of walleyes; said they got them on blade baits – but un-
known how they are working them or where. But I do know they rely on top end electronics to

find the fish – depthfinders on their boat look like TV screens. Lots of perch are being caught
but not many crappies. Water temp at 10 feet down has fallen several degrees from a week
ago – early cool nights impacting temp; now 73 degrees.

Dave @ Richter’s Bait & Tackle; filed 8-7: Fishing this week in one word – slow. Not many peo-
ple out. However, some guys caught walleyes good under the windy conditions we had on Sat-
urday. Fishing Frank and my son Bean went out night fishing a couple days ago, but did not
catch a single walleye…several smallmouth bass but no ‘eye. Channel cats are the number one

         fish being caught.

Laurie @ Duck-n-Drake; filed 8-7: One word to describe fishing at Pymie this past week?
Catfish, catfish, catfish – I guess that’s three words. A couple of my regular customers had suc-
cess for walleyes by trolling Rapala Shad Raps south of the Causeway, but that was the only
‘eye report I have. The NE OH Crappie Club will be holding an open tournament on Pymatuning
                    th
on the 19 of this month. They are going out of the boat launch across the street from Duck-N
-Drake. Register the morning of the event; check their website for more information.

Becky @ Gateway Bait; filed 8-7: Bluegill and catfish – that’s all I am hearing right now…and
         the occasional musky. Crazy year!

Ken Smith (Sharon); filed 8-7: I fished Pymatuning on this past Saturday for crappies. Didn’t do
well. Couldn’t get the crappie bite going – fished both deep and shallow but no luck. Packed up

         and headed to Shenango.

Darl Black (Cochranton); filed 7-30: Tried several moderately deep summer crappie brush
spots on South End. All I could catch were a couple very small crappies. Headed back to Con-
         neaut Lake.
