MERCER COUNTY continued
Shenango Lake
Randy @ Fish West PA; filed 4-21: Shenango Lake water temp has
been fluctuating along with water levels due to all the recent rain
storms. Fish are starting to move shallow
and are ready to feed. Bass, pike and pan-
fish – including crappie and perch – are
more active by the day. Hybrids are break-
ing up and moving shallow in smaller
schools; they can be caught along the
shoreline when feeding. Leave your bait at
home for this though; lures outfish live

Rick Como (Sharpsville); filed 4-21: We are finally getting some
warmer temperatures here on Shenango Lake. However, we have
had a lot of heavy rainfall which raised the water level of the lake
about 3 feet above normal pool level. It can make fishing shallow
water fish a bit challenging. Last trip out
before the rain, both stripers and white
bass were in the normal spring shallow wa-
Shenango Pike/Rick ter patterns and fishing was beginning to
pick up. Nice northern pike were also
showing up along the shorelines. Crappies are continuing to
build up numbers in the 10 to 13-foot flats around the lake in pre
-spawn holding pattern. Channel cats are starting to hit as well in
warmer sections of the lake. As lake levels drop back to normal,
fishing for all species will improve. The next couple weeks should Shenango White Bass
be great for all species on Shenango. (See photos)
