much more accessible. Little Sandy is also fishing well as fish are spread out though the
drainage and are holding in locations further from stocking points. These next few
weeks are some of the best times to get out and enjoy all that
these remarkable trout fisheries have to offer! (See photos)
Denny Beggs, Franklin; filed 5/2: I was fishing big Sandy Creek
the other day, drifting a salmon egg when this 21-inch rainbow
grabbed it. Very pretty fish. Photo, measured and released the
big girl.
Sugar Creek
Angler Al @ Buttermilk Hill, Franklin; filed 5/5: Even though the
rains made for a constant stain to flowing water, I did put in a
few hours this last week – mostly on Sugar Creek where it flows Denny Beggs 21in ‘bow
into French Creek. I, along with Mikey Gallowski and fishing
buddies Stan Huefner and Corey Breene, caught several rainbows on eggs and red
worms. Also caught numerous 2 to 4-pound smallmouth bass and a bunch of 18 to 22-
inch walleye on live creek chubs. However, my most impressive catch was a 23-inch
brown trout; it hit a heavy, gold spinner and took nearly 10 minutes to land! (See pho-
tos below)

Allegheny River
Jeff @ Keystone Connection Guide Service; filed 5/6: Opening of
walleye season this past weekend provided two golden days of
‘eye fishing for my clients. One day with Terry and Jim, we caught
numerous walleyes from 17 to 24 inches. Clients kept smaller ones
and released the larger ones. On day two, Joe got a mess of eater
walleyes and released a 19-inch smallmouth. River fishing is very
good. (See photos)
