VENANGO COUNTY
Angler Al Venango Diary
- May 16 & 17: Tom Yancy of Bellwood, PA and I fished
Sugar Creek. We drifted nightcrawlers and wax worms,
cast flashy spinners which were hammered by stocked
trout. Fly fishing was also good. Bead Head Prince
nymphs, green and black crazy legs, purple San Juan
Worm and Olive Wooley Bugger caught fish.
- I did manage a few hours on Justus Lake. Drifted large
creek baits and caught two smallmouths and one large-
mouth bass. When temps begin to heat ups, so will the Tom Yancy on Sugar
fishing at Justus.
- My brother spent a few hours drifting live medium fat-
head minnows on Lake Wilhelm. He caught a fair num-
ber of 10 to 11-inch crappies and a few reached 13 inch-
es. Came from 14 feet of water.
- Guests and friends had a good time landing largemouth
and smallmouth bass, trout, crappies and bluegills from
my pond.
