Richard @ Someday Isle Tackle; filed 5/20: Team Someday Isle
Tackle has been out pounding the Erie shoreline. If you’re not tak-
ing advantage of the great smallmouth run right now, stop and
take some time in next week to do it. Both North and South Piers
have been hot for bass and the occasional walleye grabbing a jig,
too. Found plenty of perch and bluegill with largemouth and small-

mouth bass around the monument in Misery Bay. Water Puppets
tipped with half a crawler or minnow under a bobber is all that is
needed. Water Puppet casted or jigged down the wall on the SIT photo
North and South Pier is best presentation. (See Photos & Livewell)

Dan @ Elk Creek Sports; filed 5/20: Walleye fishing has been slow

off the beach due to bad winds. But guys in boats just offshore have
been catching them in 8 feet of water pulling Renosky plugs; no
faster than 1.2 to 1.3 mph. No perch reported. There are only a few
bass in Elk Creek likely because water has not warmed enough.
They are catching more steelhead than bass in the creek. Catfish
should be moving into Elk Creek soon; apple blossom time is when
they normally show up. SIT photo

Brock Morocco (Sharon); filed 5/18: Bass fishing is now in its prime
with big smallies moving into Erie tribs and largemouth close to
spawning. Remember to take care when releasing all fish during
this time period. Now is the time to catch trophy bass and snap a
picture. You don’t need a boat to land a trophy fish right now. Hip
boots or waders will get you to them. (See photo)
                                                                                          Brock Morocco photo

John Wilpula (Conneaut Lake); filed 5/20: Got my first Lake walleye
jigging in 8 feet of water in the main lake. However, I spent most of
the day bass fishing in the Bay. Combat crowds weren’t too bad. All
bass caught were in 3 to 7 feet of water. The key was finding
presentations that were entirely different from what everyone else
as throwing. (See photos here and in Livewell)

Keith @ Dutch Fork Custom Lures; filed 5/15: Keith Eshbaugh and John Wilpula photo

daughter Anja Eshbaugh from Dutch Fork Custom Lures fished
Presque Isle Bay on one of the most miserable days of this spring! We boated several
pike, lots of smallmouths and largemouth bass, and some very nice smallies in the lake.
