Lake Wilhelm—Giving up the BIG crappies!
Corey @ Lake Wilhelm Marina; filed 6/10: Anglers had a good time
over the weekend on walleyes and crappies. Customer reported
walleyes to 24 inches and crappies to 15 inches. This year, I’m hear-
ing more about angler engagements with muskies than in the past
five years I’ve been here.
Bubba Mak’s Bait & Tackle; filed 6/10: Reports of crappies and Cindy Cole
bluegills being caught from shore by the dam and at 3-posts.
Bo @ BC Bait Co.; filed 6/9: Good numbers of crappie are still being
taken in shallow water with BC Balltails and Terry Bugs. However, the
bigger crappies are offshore now in 8 to 11 feet of water.
Ron Cole; filed 6/8: Little over a week ago my wife Cindy caught her
PB crappie at 15.5 inches. Then this weekend, I beat that with a 16-
inch crappie. Wilhelm has some big crappies! (Photos)

Rick Como; filed 6/9: Before the recent heavy rains hit the area, the
striper fishing had really turned on. I teamed up with fellow striper angler Ralph Shear-
er to try out his method of slow trolling with planer boards. We had great success with
his method and landed stripers up to 12 pounds, plus big cats
and smallmouth bass. Always a good day with Ralph. North-
ern pike fishing in this lake has really taken off as the fish
seem to be spawning successfully every year; all sizes of pike
are being caught all over the lake. We are still catching small
walleyes and an occasional adult ‘eye on every trip. But high
muddy water at this writing has slowed fishing. Let us hope
Ralph Shearer with hybrid
for less rain and some warming weather.
Breanna Enirrep (Hermitage); filed 6/8: I caught my PB flathead catfish from the She-
nango River this past week. The fish started by tinkering around
with my bait. It played with it for a few minutes. The line would
go out slightly and then it would stop. Finally, it too off and the
fight was on. When the hook was set, the fish did not move.
When I started reeling the fish took off peeling line and causing
the drag to scream. This happened repeatedly before I finally got
the fish to shore. We netted it, photographed it and returned it
to the water.
