Bo @ BC Bait Co.; filed 6/9: We did very well over the weekend for
large bluegill and multiple smallmouth bass in seven feet of water
around weed edges. Chartreuse Hadley Worms worked best.

Jerry @ Timberland Bait Shop; filed 6/10: My customers have been

doing well on walleye at Canadohta Lake. I’ve got the worms and the
crawler harnesses – stop by for the hot colors. Also had report of three large northern
pike caught at Lake Pleasant in Erie County.
ERIE COUNTY
Lake Erie, PIB and Erie Tributaries
Mike @ Lake Erie Bait and Tackle; filed 6/10: Walleye is the word. Walleye at all depths
from 20 feet to 52 feet according to customers. And the night
anglers are still getting some in very shallow water. Perch
seem to be scattered. The head boats have been getting perch
in 20 to 30 feet. But hardly any private boaters going for perch
because walleyes are so easy to catch right now. Some small-
mouth bass are still in the Bay, but the bite is improving on
the main lake. Bluegill are spawning in the Bay so the bite is

hot and heavy right now in certain areas. (Photo)
Lynne @ East End Angler; filed 6/10: Anglers are having a great time on walleye off
Shades and off North East. There are perch out there too. The depth for both species is
roughly 38 to 50 feet, with the walleyes close to the bottom. Crawler harnesses, plugs
and spoons are all working for walleye with the hot colors being purples and greens. Of
course, it’s emerald shiners for perch; here at East End Angler, the Minnow Man has
our tanks filled with bait. There are reports of both smallmouth bass and steelhead in
16 Mile Creek – go figure that one. In the Bay, a few guys are still catching some walleye
off the end of the South Pier in the evening. At Lake Pleasant, the word is trout and
bluegills.
Jeff @ Poor Richards; filed 6/10: The walleye bite is outstanding – as good as last year.
Right now, walleyes are in 15 to 42 feet, with 30 to 42 the
best depth range. Crawler harnesses, spoons, plugs and jigs
are catching walleye – as long as it’s purple/black or cop-
per. Night fishing has slowed. Perch are spotty. (Photo)
