September is month of transition. With water
temps beginning to drop, fish are making
some adjustments in location and prey
sources. As water temps continue to drop, we
anticipate most warm/coolwater species
(bass, walleyes, crappies, perch, pike, musky)
to feed more with each species having its
own temperature niche of most aggressive
activity. On Lake Erie, steelheads are starting
Jenna at Fish West PA with a 26-pound their fall run to the tributary creeks, while the
flathead she caught in Shenango River major GL walleye schools in PA waters for the
summer are now heading west. There is a lot
happening right now and it changes day to
day. Be sure to check out Bassmaster Elite Pro
Dave Lefebre tips for September bass fishing.
This week the hottest bites are smallmouth
bass on the Allegheny, plus walleyes and
perch on Lake Erie. The steelhead run is
starting, and big white bass are feeding on
Shenango Lake. Don’t overlook flatheads!
